Ronnie Fieg and the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation Pair Up on the New Balance 998

Update April 21, 2023: The Ronnie Fieg x Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation x New Balance 998 ‘Beige with Chutney’ will experience an even wider release via the NB webstore on April 24.

Founded back in 2002, Kith founder Ronnie Fieg and New Balance are no strangers to one another. The New Balance 998 celebrates its 35th anniversary in 2023, so Fieg tagged in the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation to collaborate on the silhouette, one that takes inspiration from the late great architect’s Broadacre City concept.

Frank Lloyd Wright had a vision for urban development planning he dubbed Broadacre City. Every family would be averse a one-acre lot of land from federal land reserves, where they would then be able to grow food and farm for themselves. Fieg takes the conception of Broadacre City and brings the natural elements to the collaborative 998. Dropping in two colourways, earthy tones are accented by warm oranges and reds, with different shades of green seen on the mesh and suede upper. Co-branding is minimal, with Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation branding seen on the insole, while cream makes up the ABZORB cushioned midsole and extends to the sneaker’s outsole alongside black to finish things off.

The Ronnie Fieg x Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation x New Balance 998 ‘Broadacre City’ will retail for $220 in two colourways and is set to drop first in-store at Kith Tokyo on April 14, 2023. A second drop will follow at a pop-up in Scottsdale, Arizona, inside the Cabaret Theater on April 15. Lastly, a global release will follow on April 17, 2023, via Kith.com and in-store at Kith locations.
