New Balance had one of 2021's biggest surprise hits with the 2002R 'Protection Pack,' and they're planning to vastly expand the pack in 2022. In what seems to be a playful jab at New Balance's former reputation as a 'dad shoe' brand and an acknowledgement of their current status as a lifestyle innovator, this 2002R combines familiar frayed 'Protection Pack' embellishments on its white upper with heavily-scuffed black detailing on the upper, midsole and gum outsole alike. A release date for this dad-tested, streetwear kid-approved iteration of the New Balance 2002R 'Protection Pack' has yet to be announced, but it'll likely hit shelves in the next few months. Expect to plunk down $150 if you'd like to add a pair to your collection.
