A-COLD-WALL* and Converse Introduce the Crazy Sponge Crater

ACW’s recent designs completely flip Converse’s basketball image on its head – these won’t be found anywhere near the hardwood. Instead, this new Sponge Crater is a futuristic glimpse into the latest technology for casual use. Thanks to the brand’s relationship with Nike, there are some ideas unofficially borrowed for this model. For example, the bootie sock fit is made using what’s called ‘flat-knit’.

However, there are also official technologies that Converse have the benefit of using. The Crater Foam that forms the external structure of the slip-on design is composed in part from recycled content, much like the midsoles of the previous ADD TO CAL. And speaking of CX, that same cushioning compound is located deep in the footbed to supply long-lasting cushioning.

Presented in this vibrant orange and gunmetal grey colourway, it won’t come as a surprise if ACW launch more futuristic editions in coming weeks. For now, this version will land on June 23 at Converse retailers and directly from A-COLD-WALL*.
