Blends Meets Vans Again on the Style 36 LX ‘Magic Tape’
Founded back in 2002 link up again with Subscribe to our Newsletter LXs featuring the former’s bone motif in place of the latter’s iconic Jazz stripe that can be changed out with Velcro patches. This time around, the collection is called ‘Magic Tape’, which makes sense once it’s explained.
Blends’ owners originally hail from Japan, and over there the word ‘Velcro’ is commonly referred to as literally ‘Magic Tape’ – thus giving this colab some personal meaning. As for the tangible features of the shoe more commonly known as the Old Skool, its quarter panels have a long strip of the sticky stuff that can be swapped for either black, grey or ‘Marshmallow’ bones. The bones have been a signature motif of Blends x Vans colabs for almost a decade now. Whatever the option, they’ll work well with the tonal ‘Marshmallow’ and ‘Green’ pairs that are on offer. The execution is pretty straightforward with glairy canvas uppers, sturdy suede overlays and a custom ‘wax seal’ graphic printed onto the insoles.
The Blends x Vans Style 36 LX will release exclusively at Blends on June 18 in the ‘Marshmallow’ colourway. This will then be followed by the ‘Green’ pair on July 2.
