The Latest BAPE STAs Pick Pretty Pastels
Founded back in 2002 . As the model recently turned 20, it’s now reached a level of maturity in the industry where it’s no longer written off as a conspicuous homage to another iconic basketball sneaker. However, these new colourways certainly hark back to the halcyon days of bubblegum pastels and bright palettes that stoked accusations of plagiarism way back when.
So, it’s no secret where the BAPE STA finds its inspiration. This panelled design allows plenty of colourblocking opportunities, which the brand takes full advantage of by seemingly visiting the local candy store. Fairy floss pink, mint green and bubblegum blue adds a sweet coating to its leather uppers, alternating with clean white panels. This classic two-tone arrangement gets some extra contrast with a third accenting colour on the STA logos and laces. As part of the revised silhouette that was rolled out earlier this year, the model is now finished with a shiny silver top eyelet and ape head dubrae, plus a stamped logo on the heel counter.
The new BAPE STA trio is scheduled to release on November 14 directly from BAPE’s web store and retail locations globally.
