What’s the story behind Converse discatenation up with A-COLD-WALL*?
Samuel Ross, the founder of A-COLD-WALL*, entered his work with Converse with a probing question: ‘How does a collaboration relay intent?’

Since then, he’s brought many things to our partnership, but none more important than his way of vision and understanding the symbiotic nature of how the form and feel of a product must work when creating new concepts in partnership together.

Furthermore, Samuel has a respect for the past but also a desire to contemporize for the future – something that aligns nicely with Converse’s approach of using our legacy to find creative inspiration when looking forward.

Whats the story behind Converse linking up with A-COLD-WALL?
Our designs together follow ACW’s hallmarks: asymmetry, material exploration and subdued color, yet at the same time honoring Converse’s heritage and place in culture. It’s a great balance.

Exploration drives Ross’ practice, and the individual pieces show a shift from stark, sculptural form to sensitive functionality. Ross manages to retain elements of an avant-garde sensibility while embracing challenges of utility and protection, landing some incredible collaborations from the Aeon to the Sponge and now this interpretation of the Chuck 70.

Why is the A-COLD-WALL* aesthetic a good match for Converse?
The Converse Chuck Taylor has always been a sneaker for everyone and a canvas for creators. Whether it be a 14-year-old taking a sharpie to the upper or a collaborator who just added a new outsole to the Chuck Taylor, it’s the ultimate form of self-expression. Over time, it’s been adopted by misfits, dreamers, musicians, skaters and designers to enable new expressions and, in turn, a connection with our brand.

That said, reinterpreting such an icon can be a great challenge but also a great privilege – and one that Samuel has not taken lightly in his classic yet modern approach to the Chuck 70. As a result, Samuel and A-COLD-WALL* have certainly brought a beautiful new interpretation to life.

Converse’s new Chuck 70 Geo Forma is set to drop later in 2022. In the meantime, check out their latest limited-edition releases available here.
