The balanced scorecard originated by Robert Kaplan and David Norton is used extensively to measure and improve performance in both governments, private and non-profit organisations. It provides a framework for strategic planning and management of organisation and to align business activities to the vision and strategy of the organisation. Today balanced scorecard has the equal reputation as that of lean and six sigma in process improvement.
